It's Weird!

There is something going on with my boys and the door lock in my house. I know that they get a chuckle out of locking us out on occasion but sometimes that gets old, even though they let us in right away.

Recently the door started locking when they hadn't even been around. What's up with that. After a little investigation I saw that the deadbolt shifts a little when the door is shut and it locks the door - just a little. Ah, so that is what has been going on! I had been all ready to blame my poor little boys, LOL!

Diet Talk

Have you ever known of any crash diets that work? I am sometimes tempted to try them because I'd like to take off some weight fast but after working that hard, I don't want to see it come back and I'm afraid that is exactly what would happen when I went back to eating "normally". Weight loss is hard. I should know - I am in the middle of taking it off and it is going so painfully slow. But how fast did I put it on? Goes on slowly...it comes off slowly.

Vacation Options

I have family that lives in Kansas and friends that live in Arkansas. If I had a Branson vacation package, I could visit family and friends and everything in between! I am not much for country music but some of it I do like. I hear there are really a lot of different options for music and for kids so I'm sure our family would enjoy that sort of vacation.

We just got back from a mini-vacation to Atlanta where we visited the Fernbank Museum. The boys were able to see an IMAX movie called Animalapoosa that they just loved. Some time small vacations are the way to go. The 5½ hours home did seem like about 12 though!

Sir Read A Lot

I have been doing a lot of reading lately. I am a member of the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance as well as FIRST Wild Card tours and I get a lot of Christian books every month. I enjoy reading so much that I can hardly say no to a book - but if I don't learn how to be more picky, I will be spending more time writing reviews than I do reading!

If I had my way, I would set up home theater seating, invite all my friends over and we'd have a big reading party. Stack all the books up front and read to our hearts content. When the day was over, just throw a sheet over the books and use the seating to watch TV with my family. Sounds like a plan, eh?

Bar Code Scanners

I love barcode scanners! I really do! I love scanning items at Walmart to see how much they cost. I love the places that let you check out yourself. I love the barcode scanner on my iPhone - I use it to scan items into my grocery list. What is it about barcode scanners? I have always loved computers so I guess it has something to do with that. I also like the little beep you get when the item is scanned. What would we do without them? Enter everything by hand, that's what!!

Apps for Hobbies

My son has been drumming for 3 years now.  He was only 7 when he started but he has a lot of natural talent and has kept with it.  We just recently started him on drum lessons and I think he is doing well.  His drum teacher wanted him to use a metronome to practice his rudiments and I just happened to find an app on my iphone that was a metronome.  How awesome is that?  I am all about finding inexpensive ways to fund our hobbies.  Any ideas? I bet we could use abt electronics coupons to buy drum accessories online.  Amazon takes them and usually you can spend over $25 to get free shipping.  Sounds like a win-win situation to me!

Looking for the perfect workout?

I'm longing for the day that my body will allow me to work out and get healthy and strong. Until I get a handle on these arthritis type symptoms (cause by anti-rejection drugs) I will keep plodding on and walking around the track. A serious workout would include a pull up bar. I saw some really nice ones at Ultimate Body Press and according to the reviews on the site, its one of the best deals around. Another customer said it was sturdy enough for 260 pounds and that they recommended it highly.

I always look at customer reviews when they are available on a product that I am considering buying. That is how you will get the real story on a product and it looks like this product is definitely worth buying.

Riding Boots

There are some things that I really like that I will never buy simply because I have absolutely no use for them. Like riding boots - they are so cool looking to me but it is very doubtful that I will ever get on a horse and if I do, I'll probably feel safer in my tennis shoes. School Supplies.

I spent almost 3 days a couple of weeks ago cleaning out our school room. I have been trying to get it ready for our school year that I hope will start sometime in July. It has been so hot that I'm thinking the boys will want to stay indoors more, but with the pool, who knows! I have been making a supply list and have decided that this year, the boys will be using real scissors - those child scissors make me crazy! I also need a box cutter and some new colored pencils.

Sale!

Who doesn't like a good sale? To be honest, It is very rare of me to buy anything that's not on sale - well that goes for mostly clothes. With food, you have to buy what you have to buy. What is it about us wanting to get a good deal? My boys are drawn to this as well. If they see an ad of "buy one get one free" they are excited to have something free. But don't we all know that truly rarely is anything free. BOGOF is simply jacking up the price and then offering one of them free.

I'm not that skeptical. It is entirely possible that sometimes people will give things away in their quest to promote their products. I'm still, though, of the mind that there are no free lunches! Someone pays.
